Baby elephant reunited with orphan herd after being abandoned by mother in heartwarming moment.
Bupe, a young elephant, was recently flown to his new home with a herd of fellow orphans after being abandoned by his mother. The flight, which lasted nearly two hours, was organized by Game Rangers International, who led the rescue efforts for Bupe in Zambia.

When Bupe was first found, he needed constant care and attention, but he has since made a remarkable recovery. According to a statement from Game Rangers International, he has been regaining his strength and forming a strong bond with his keeper, Matthews. After receiving the green light from veterinarian Dr. Lengwe, Bupe was ready to start his new life at the Lusaka Elephant Nursery.

The decision to fly Bupe to the nursery was made because it was the least stressful option for the young elephant. ProCharter, a global aviation and logistics company, was chosen to organize the flight, as they have experience in transporting animals. With Matthews by his side, Bupe confidently walked into the loading crate and was driven to the airport.

The flight lasted one hour and 45 minutes, and luckily, everything went smoothly. Dr. Lengwe had given Bupe a mild sedative to help ease any anxiety he might have felt during the journey. Upon landing, it was all hands on deck to get Bupe off the flight, as he and his crate weighed a hefty 350kg.

Once safely off the plane, Bupe was transferred to a rescue trailer and driven to the nursery. There, he was finally able to be released and join his new family. Despite being slightly nervous and hesitant at first, a warm bottle of milk was all it took to coax Bupe out of the trailer and into his new home.

Game Rangers International expressed their gratitude to all the organizations involved in making Bupe's journey as smooth as possible. They also shared that Bupe will now have the opportunity to make new friends and bond with his new herd, who will become his siblings and support system as he continues his journey back to the wild.

If you would like to support the amazing work being done by Game Rangers International, you can make a donation to their cause. Bupe's story is just one example of the incredible efforts being made to protect and preserve wildlife.
