Jharsuguda and Talcher weren't far behind at 43.5 degrees Celsius, and Dhenkanal recorded a temperature of 43.1 degrees Celsius.
Even the state capital, Bhubaneswar, and its neighboring city, Cuttack, weren't spared from the heat, reaching 40.5 and 40.8 degrees Celsius, respectively. The IMD has issued a red warning for the next 24 hours, indicating that severe heatwave conditions may prevail in Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Nuapada, and Angul districts. And for other areas like Sambalpur, Jajpur, Balasore, Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Balasore, Jagatsinghpur, Bolangir, Sonepur, Malkangiri, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Khurda, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Nabarangpur, and Deogarh districts, an orange warning has been issued.
