An org chart from the 1300s

This picture below shows how the papal offices were organized in the 1300s. The org chart outlines the key “officers” who led an organization of over 500 people.

This org chart made me smile because I’ve read multiple books proclaiming the end of the organization charts in the past decade.

But, given the power of the Lindy effect (the longer something has survived, the longer it’s life expectancy), org charts are likely to outlive these predictions.
