It's time to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of Black media elites! On April 22, the 2023 Black Media Honors Awards will be held at the Venue @ WestCobb in Austell, Georgia. Hosted by actress Brely Evans and radio personality Willie Moore Jr., this weekend-long event is presented by Empower Media Group to honor broadcasting, public relations, media, mass communication, journalism, entertainment, and education professionals who have been major influences on the industry.
This year’s honorees have made a lasting impact in their respective fields, including restaurateur Pinky Cole, sports commentator Stephen A. Smith, ALIVE Network Podcast founder Angel N. Livas, and Black Enterprise’s very own Alfred Edmond, Jr.
Alfred Edmond, Jr., who is the Senior Vice President and Executive Editor-at-Large at Black Enterprise, has been a driving force in the success and growth of the publication for over 30 years. He is humbled to be honored with this prestigious award and is proud that the Black Media Honors is recognizing the importance of Black media.
It was his ambition to become the first Black editor of Esquire or GQ that first drew him to Black Enterprise, but it was the culture of “excellence, no excuses” that kept him here for 36 years. We wish Alfred all the best on this esteemed honor!
