Morena: Collector Ankit Asthana has released a statement that representatives of political parties will not be allowed to bring calculators to the vote-counting centres. This was announced on Friday when the Collector was inspecting the preparations for counting of votes of six constituencies in the district on Sunday. Asthana also clarified that mobile phones, food and water will not be permitted at the time of counting.
At the Morena vote-counting centre, 17 tables have been allocated and 14 tables each for Sabalgarh, Joura, Dimni and Ambah. There will also be separate tables for micro-observers, counting supervisors and for calculating postal ballots.
The EVMs will be brought from the strong room on the college premises to the counting centre under tight security. Asthana has instructed the officials to ensure that the rooms and premises of the polytechnic college are cleaned up. Additionally, the administration has increased security around the polytechnic and banned traffic movements. Seating arrangements have been made for the agents of political parties and they will not be allowed to come near the EVMs as per the rules. Asthana personally inspected all the rooms in the polytechnic.
The Collector was accompanied by superintendent of police Shailendra Chouhan, additional district magistrate CB Prasad and other officials during the inspection. After the inspection, Asthana was satisfied with the preparations and commended the work of the officials.
