Aberfoyle will be the host of the new "Grand Old Dukes" gravel riding endurance event on 30 April, which is open to both individual riders and relay teams. This event will be coupled with the Gravelfoyle festival of cycling, which is a two-day community festival that will be held at Dounans Outdoor Centre in Aberfoyle on the 29th and 30th of April.
Kerry MacPhee, who is one of the directors for the event, stated: "The development of Gravelfoyle as a haven for gravel riders across the world has been remarkable to observe over the [past] five years, as well as the growth of long-distance gravel challenges. We understand that people have an enthusiasm for both, so it made sense to create our own concept event of climbing 10,000ft over 111 miles."
Beth Legg, who is another director for the event, added: "Since the event village at Dounans Outdoor Centre will have something for everyone over the weekend, our community-based festival of cycling – which will take place in conjunction with the big ride-out on Sunday – is guaranteed to have an inviting and family-friendly atmosphere."
