Project Shaolin, the highly anticipated video game, is currently in development at Brass Lion Entertainment founded by Manveer Heir in 2019. According to Insider Gaming, the game will feature all nine members of the legendary Wu-Tang Clan and is set to have anime-style graphics, third-person fast-paced melee combat, and music from the Wu-Tang Clan re-interpreted by Just Blaze specifically for the game. Players will reportedly be able to pair the Wu-Tang members with four different weapons with a playstyle specific to each weapon.
Each Wu-Tang member will have their own unique buff, special moves, an ultimate ability, and increased health. The game is also said to have a social hub, “The Neighborhood”, where players can sell loot, listen to music, and show off their characters’ fashion. Insider Gaming reported that the game has a distinct anime-inspired feel, similar to Marvel’s Into The Spider-Verse films.
Wu-Tang’s previous entry into video games was in 1999 with the PlayStation game “Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style”. Members of the group were also featured in “Def Jam: Fight For New York”, released in 2004. In 2022, the group collaborated with Fortnite on skins and gear depicting their Wu-Wear.
Project Shaolin is still in its Alpha phase, and it is likely anywhere from one to two year away from being completed. The game is being closely monitored to ensure the highest quality for when it is released. Ghostface Killah is also set to release his autobiography in 2024, further increasing the hype for this game.
