A woman living in the Victorian era was left feeling absolutely terrified after experiencing an alleged carjacking in Melbourne's north-west earlier this month. According to the police, 41-year-old Natalie Carrafa was approached by a male who allegedly threatened her with an imitation firearm in Taylors Lakes on June 15th.

Carrafa shared her harrowing experience, stating that the male demanded the keys to her car or he would shoot her. "He said give me the keys to your car or I'll shoot you," Carrafa recalled. This incident took place just a day before a fisherman was allegedly stabbed to death on Frankston Pier.

As Carrafa explained, the terrifying ordeal began when she was approached by a teenager in the car park of Watergardens shopping centre. Initially, the teenager asked her for a cigarette, but then suddenly pulled out a gun from his jacket and demanded the keys to her car. "I went to hand him a cigarette and he was about three feet away from me, not making a scene, and he just opened up his jacket and took out a gun and said 'give me the keys to your car, now'," Carrafa recounted.

Feeling shocked and uncertain if the gun was real, Carrafa reluctantly complied with the demand. The male then drove off in her Mercedes, leaving her feeling traumatized and scared. "Being around a crowd is a little bit scary now for me," Carrafa admitted, still shaken by the incident.

The following day, a 51-year-old woman in Keilor East was also confronted by an armed male while sitting in her Porsche. The male demanded that she get out of the vehicle, and the woman's car was later found abandoned in Coburg. Two days later, on June 17th, a 17-year-old boy was found sleeping in the stolen car in Coburg. The police found an imitation firearm in the car and charged the teenager with two counts of aggravated carjacking with a firearm and obtaining property by deception. He was bailed and is expected to appear in court at a later date.

In addition to this, two other teenagers were also arrested in connection to the alleged carjackings and are expected to face charges. To address the alarming rise in serious crimes, the police will be relaunching Operation Cavalcade. This operation will target hotspots for criminal activities, such as shopping centres, parks, and train stations, in the western suburbs of Melbourne. Hopefully, this will help to prevent such terrifying incidents from happening in the future.
