A TV icon from the 90s has retired, marking the end of an era for his famous role.
It's a sad day for fans of Neighbours as we bid farewell to Toadie Rebecchi, a name that will forever be synonymous with the show after almost three decades. It's hard to believe, but back in June, actor Ryan Moloney announced his decision to leave, even though he had actually made this bold choice several years ago.

Unfortunately, those plans were put on hold when British broadcaster Channel 5 cancelled the show in 2022, causing it to come to an end in its home country of Australia. However, Ryan knew that he wanted to be a part of the show's history-making finale, and he agreed to return for its grand revival on Amazon Freevee last year.

In a recent exclusive chat, Ryan shared with me that the producers were well aware of his desire to move on and pursue other opportunities, but he also couldn't resist the experience of continuing to be a part of the show. And so, in the episode that aired this morning on Prime Video, we saw Toadie say a final goodbye to Ramsay Street as he made the decision to move to Colac, a town two hours away from his current home.

After a tumultuous year filled with marriage problems, disturbing flashbacks, and a near-death experience in the Australian outback, Toadie realized that it was time for him to start fresh with his family. And so, with the support of his surrogate parents Karl and Susan Kennedy, he gathered with the residents of Ramsay Street for a final celebration before embarking on his new journey.

As everyone dressed up in Hawaiian shirts and enjoyed the festivities, Toadie took a moment to thank each person in the group for their friendship. Even Harold Bishop, a beloved character from the show's past, made an appearance and shared a history book filled with precious memories. Toadie also presented Karl and Susan with a retro-inspired portrait of himself as a token of his appreciation.

In a touching moment, Karl and Susan teared up as they accepted the portrait, which was painted in the style of the late Helen Daniels, a beloved character from the show's early years. And as Toadie said his final goodbyes and drove away with his two children, Nell and Hugo, it truly marked the end of an era for Neighbours.

But will we see Toadie on our screens again? As it turns out, Ryan still has five weeks left on his contract, so there's a possibility that we haven't seen the last of him. In fact, he has even taken on a new role behind the scenes as a director for the show, which he says he absolutely loves. Being able to be creative and help guide the show in a new way has been an exciting experience for Ryan.
