A robbery attempt was stopped by the police in Odisha, leading to the arrest of six people.
A group of dacoits was caught in the act by the Town police in Balasore on late Friday night. The police managed to arrest six members of the gang while they were plotting a robbery. The Town police has recovered various items such as two crude bombs, sharp-edged weapons, mobile phones, and a whopping 17 stolen bikes from the possession of the accused. At a press conference held on Saturday at the police station, SP Sagarika Nath informed that the presser was attended by City DSP Shubhranshu Shekhar Nayak and Inspector-in-Charge Ashok Kumar Nayak. However, the identity of the arrested individuals is yet to be disclosed by the police.

According to the police, they received an anonymous tip-off around 2 am on Friday, informing them about the planned robbery at Balighat. Acting swiftly on the tip-off, IIC Ashok Kumar Nayak, along with his team, conducted a raid and successfully managed to apprehend the six members of the dacoit gang. During the raid, the police also discovered 17 stolen bikes in an abandoned house at Alua in Patrapada area.

Further investigation revealed that the accused were involved in stealing bikes from various markets, court premises, and public places. They would then sell these stolen bikes at low prices to liquor traders and timber mafias. The police also found out that the arrested individuals had a history of criminal activities, including theft and dacoity, registered against them in different police stations. Shockingly, two of the minors arrested were also involved in a murder case at Blue Lake.

In light of these grave offenses, a case has been registered against the accused under Sections 310, 310, 317 of the Arms Act, and the Indian Explosives Act. The police are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter. SP Nath has assured the public that after proper verification, the stolen bikes will be returned to their rightful owners. The Town police is determined to bring these criminals to justice and ensure the safety and security of the citizens.
