According to reports, a tense situation unfolded at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in the US, when a passenger was accused of stepping onto the wing of an Alaska Airlines jet. It was just after 5pm on Sunday night when a passenger, described as being anxious, took an unconventional and possibly illegal approach to exiting the aircraft.
The incident occurred as Alaska Airlines flight 323 from Milwaukee had reached its destination and was in the process of taxiing to the gate for passengers to disembark. Witnesses claim that a female passenger opened one of the emergency exit doors and proceeded to climb out onto the wing of the plane. Thankfully, a Port of Seattle medic was able to calm her down and she was safely taken to a local hospital.
Aviation expert Scott Hamilton weighed in on the situation, stating that the passenger may or may not face criminal charges. He explained, "If someone is experiencing anxiety or a mental health issue and their actions do not show any malicious intent, it may be best to handle the situation with understanding rather than pressing charges."
The FBI has been made aware of the incident, but it will ultimately be up to the US attorney's office to determine if any charges will be filed against the passenger. In the meantime, CNN has reported on this bizarre and concerning event.
