A new search is being conducted for a UK teen who went missing while on vacation.
A team of dedicated volunteers from the non-profit organisation Signi Zoekhonden have arrived in Tenerife to aid in the search for missing British teenager, Jay Slater. According to reports from the BBC, the team consists of six individuals and four highly trained dogs, all specially trained in search and rescue operations.

The mother of the missing 19-year-old, Debbie Duncan, expressed her gratitude for the team's arrival, which was made possible through kind donations to a crowdfunding page. Slater, an apprentice bricklayer from Lancashire, was last heard from on June 17th after attending a music festival on the island. He had called his travel companion, Lucy Law, to let her know he was lost and attempting to make his way back to their accommodation, but was in need of water.

Unfortunately, the clothing Slater was wearing, only shorts and a t-shirt, were not suitable for the weather conditions on Tenerife. Despite the best efforts of local authorities, who launched an extensive search using helicopters, search dogs, and drones, there was still no sign of the young man. The official search was called off after 12 days, leaving his family and friends desperate for any sign of him.

That's when Signi Zoekhonden stepped in. With over 20 years of experience in finding missing people, the organisation reached out to the Slater family after hearing about the case. Marieke Krans, one of the volunteer searchers, explained that the group will also be utilizing drones in their search, pending approval from local officials.

Krans expressed the group's determination to find Slater, stating that their highly trained dogs have the skills to search for individuals both alive and deceased. They are even able to search in difficult terrain, including underwater and mountainous areas. Their expertise also extends to natural disasters, having been involved in search and rescue missions during earthquakes and other crises.

The volunteers from Signi Zoekhonden will be working closely with local authorities during their five-day search mission. Their dedication and commitment to finding Slater give hope to his loved ones and the community, as they follow the lead of their skilled canine companions.
