A new Black-owned event venue in Charlotte is the top place to host events.
A brand new, all-in-one space, owned by a Black entrepreneur, has recently opened its doors in Charlotte, North Carolina. SPACES by Premier, as it's called, is the perfect place to host a variety of local events. The brainchild of Martez Prince, a local pharmacist and successful business owner, the idea for SPACES came to him when he struggled to find affordable venues for his nonprofit organization.

In an interview with QCity Metro, Prince shared that the 3,000-square-foot venue is a "blank canvas" that can be transformed to suit any type of event - from fashion shows to weddings to corporate meetings. He hopes that this space will not only be a go-to spot for gatherings, but also inspire and collaborate with other small businesses in the community.

As the owner of Premier Pharmacy and Wellness Center and founder of the Premier Foundation of North Carolina, Prince understands the importance of having access to diverse event spaces for business growth and development. "I really want to see people take that space and test the market," he said.

One of the standout features of SPACES is its perfect setup for creative vendors. The foyer, with its pre-event cocktails and networking capabilities, serves as a welcoming space for guests before they enter the main area. With a capacity of 150 people (or 100 for a seated dinner), this main room is also equipped for live music events or podcasts. The exposed beams, high ceilings, and a unique "prop door" add a touch of character to the space, making it suitable for indoor and outdoor events, including photoshoots. Additionally, there is a dressing suite, prep kitchen, and a variety of tables and chairs available.

Not only is SPACES a convenient option for events, but it also serves the community in other ways. Located near Prince's Pharmacy on Monroe Rd, it offers affordable rates for event rentals and a selection of medicines. The on-site clinic, staffed with a family nurse practitioner, provides healthcare services for non-urgent issues like ear infections and allergies. They also offer basic health screenings, physicals, and immunizations.

For those interested in renting the space, the rates are $150 per hour with a minimum of three hours. Weekend rates hold the same minimum but are priced at $300 per hour. The rental fee includes tables and chairs, and for an entire weekend day, the cost is $2,400. Looking to the future, Prince envisions expanding SPACES into multiple locations, creating a "millennial-type country club or city club." He is excited about the endless possibilities and can't wait to see what they can create together.
