In the world of Hollywood, it's not uncommon for actors to cross paths and form new friendships. This was the case for former Emmerdale star Alexander Lincoln and Mean Girls actor Jonathan Bennett, who have recently teamed up for a new film project. Alexander, known for his role as Jamie Tate on the popular soap opera, will be starring as Jonathan's love interest in a new series for Hallmark.
The Groomsmen trilogy follows the journey of three best friends as they prepare for their weddings and navigate the ups and downs of love. Alongside Tyler Hynes and B.J. Britt, Jonathan takes on the role of a baseball coach named Danny, while Alexander portrays his best friend and love interest, Zack. The second film, The Groomsmen: Second Chances, sees Danny confessing his feelings for Zack when he is asked to be the best man at his wedding in Greece.
Jonathan couldn't contain his excitement about working with Alexander, sharing on Instagram, "Get ready for the epic love story set in the most beautiful gay destination of all, Greece. My love for @alexander_lincoln is off the charts. He's the biggest idiot you will ever meet and I mean that wholeheartedly. Thank you, Alex, for bringing Zack and Danny's story to life in ways I didn't imagine."
This project is just one of many for Alexander since his departure from Emmerdale in 2021 after two years as Jamie Tate, the son of Home Farm matriarch Kim Tate. He has since starred in the romantic drama film In from the Side, playing one of the leads in a passionate affair between two men on a gay rugby team. He also made a guest appearance on Doctors, portraying a character named Joel Tanner who becomes romantically involved with two other characters.
Despite talks of a possible return to Emmerdale, Alexander has chosen to focus on other projects for now. He shared with Attitude magazine, "I loved the show. I lived in Leeds for two-and-a-half-years. I miss everyone from the show deeply. No one knew who I was before it - I'd done some very tiny things. It was my initiation into the acting world. I can never thank them enough for that experience."
But for now, Alexander is excited to explore new opportunities and pursue his passion for producing and writing. He added, "But I don't know, to be honest. There have been talks. But for now, I really want to focus on this year: I want to produce, start my own scripts. There are other parts I want to play. There are time constraints. Being on the show, it's such hard work - you don't have time to do anything else. Booking a holiday is hard enough."
Fans can catch Alexander and Jonathan in the first two installments of The Groomsmen trilogy, The Groomsmen: First Look and The Groomsmen: Second Dance, currently available on Hallmark+. The final film, The Groomsmen: Last Dance, will be released on October 31st. This exciting project was first announced on October 15th, and fans have been eagerly anticipating its release.
