In an effort to find the missing sailor, a Spanish hospital ship, a French navy aircraft, and a cargo ship under the Portuguese flag all joined the search. However, despite their best efforts, the search had to be suspended at 1:33am due to a lack of new information.
According to VesselFinder, the Tiger PA had departed from Weymouth port in Dorset on January 20, just a day and a half prior to the incident. The prefecture took the opportunity to remind people of the importance of taking precautionary measures when going to sea, especially during the winter period when there are often numerous depressions.
