Great news for 90s R&B fans - Damage is making a comeback! The iconic band, who rose to fame in the early 90s, have returned to the spotlight after a 26-year hiatus from touring. Known for their hit singles such as Love II Love, Forever, Ghetto Romance, and their soulful cover of Eric Clapton's Wonderful Tonight, the British boy band is back and ready to take the stage once again.
Made up of founding members Rahsaan J Bromfield, Andrez Harriott, Jade Jones, Noel Simpson, and Coreé Richards, Damage made their mark on the music scene with their debut album Forever in 1997. And now, after three decades in the industry, the band has recently celebrated their 30th anniversary with their 30Irty: The Anniversary Tour. They made stops in Birmingham, Liverpool, Islington, and Leicester in November, where they performed their greatest hits and reflected on how the music scene has evolved over the years.
In a recent interview with The Sun, Andrez Harriott shared, "I think we're a lot more strategic now about what we're doing and where we're positioning ourselves. We carefully consider which shows to do, how we want to appear, and what songs will evoke the most emotion from our audience." He also added that at this point in their career, they are very conscious of how they present themselves to their fans.
Andrez's bandmate, Noel Simpson, also expressed how important it is for them to stay true to their music and maintain their integrity. "When people watch us now, they can feel us. That's the feedback we're getting - they can feel the honesty and commitment to the music and our journey together," he said. "We do it for the love, not for the business or the money. It's just about us boys getting together and enjoying ourselves on stage."
Throughout the 90s, Damage released a total of 11 hit singles, including four top 10 hits on the UK Singles Chart. Their second album, Since You've Been Gone, was released in 2001 and included the chart-topping single Ghetto Romance. However, shortly after supporting Gabrielle on tour in 2002, Coreé Richards left the band, and they eventually disbanded less than six months later.
But in 2014, the remaining members reunited, minus Coreé, for the ITV show The Big Reunion. Since then, they have continued to perform and even released two live albums, Acoustically Yours and Live at the BBC.
Most recently, the band surprised fans when Jade Jones' wife, Emma Bunton (aka Baby Spice), joined them on stage at the O2 in Islington to perform their 2001 hit I Don't Know. The crowd went wild as Jade introduced his "beautiful wife," and Emma joined in on the fun by puckering up to her husband for all to see.
It's clear that Damage is back and better than ever, and fans couldn't be happier. If you have a celebrity story, video, or pictures, we'd love to hear from you.
