In an event organized at Indore's Regional Park on Wednesday, 77 differently-abled individuals were presented with retrofitted scooties as part of the 'Meri Mati Mera Desh' campaign. The event was attended by Water Resources Minister Tulsiram Silawat, MP Shankar Lalwani, MLAs Ramesh Mendola, Akash Vijayvargiya, Malini Gaur, Mahendra Hardia, and other public representatives, Collector Dr. Ilayaraja T, IMC Commissioner Harshika Singh, ADMs Sapna Lovanshi and Roshan Rai, joint director of social justice department Suchita Beck Tirkey, former chairman of IDA Madhu Verma, and more.
At the event, Minister Silawat addressed the crowd and expressed his appreciation for the initiative. He stated that the scheme would prove to be life-altering for the differently-abled, allowing them to commute without difficulty and achieve success in their lives. Moreover, Minister Silawat and MP Lalwani interacted with the divyangs present, and urged them to make use of government schemes to pursue self-employment.
The attendees were welcomed with flowers and sweets, and treated to an array of cultural performances and patriotic songs. Further, the divyangs present shared their experiences. Geeta Chavre, an orthopedically-handicapped individual from Naya Basera in Gandhinagar, stated that the scooty would make her commutes to college much more convenient. Rajesh Madanlal, a labourer at a chocolate factory, mentioned that the lack of transportation had caused him to be late to work on numerous occasions; with the scooty, he would no longer be in such a predicament. Additionally, Sunderlal, an orthopedically-handicapped bread-seller from Lasudia, expressed his delight at receiving the scooty, as it would enable him to make more money and start a new life.
Overall, the event was a huge success, and the initiative has been well-received by the divyangs. With the help of the scooties, they are now able to improve their lives and reach new heights.
