7 people were arrested for poaching in Karlapat sanctuary.
In Bhawanipatna, a special team of Forest personnel took swift action on a tip-off and apprehended seven poachers on Thursday night. The poachers were caught red-handed in the Karlapat Wildlife Sanctuary, located in the Kalahandi district, for engaging in illegal poaching activities. It was reported that the accused were carrying firearms and sharp-edged weapons while roaming in the jungle.

The seven poachers were identified as Raidhar Majhi, Arakhita Majhi from Nakajhari village, and Ganesh Dandasena, Abhi Majhi, Raiman Majhi, Muni Majhi, and Lakshman Majhi from Kadopadar village. Upon their arrest, Forest officials seized seven guns, seven axes, and a deer horn from their possession. A case was immediately registered and the accused were presented in court to face the consequences of their actions.

Forest officials further revealed that these poachers had been previously arrested for poaching, but shockingly, they continued to pursue their illegal activities even after being released on bail from jail. This blatantly disregards the law and poses a grave threat to the wildlife in the sanctuary. The Forest department has expressed their determination to take strict action against such offenders and protect the precious wildlife in the sanctuary.
