Kochi was filled with sorrow and grief as a special Air Force aircraft arrived on Friday, carrying the mortal remains of 45 Indians who had tragically lost their lives in a devastating fire in Kuwait on June 12. The aircraft landed first in Kochi and will later make its way to Delhi.

The arrival of the aircraft was met with the presence of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Union Minister of State Suresh Gopi, Leader of Opposition V.D. Satheesan, and several state cabinet ministers at the airport. State Minister of Law P. Rajeeve shared that since the majority of the deceased were from Kerala, the flight had first landed in Kochi before heading to Delhi with the remaining bodies.

Out of the 45 victims, 23 were from Kerala, 7 were from Tamil Nadu, 3 each from Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, 2 from Odisha, and 1 each from Bihar, Punjab, Karnataka, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Haryana. The mortal remains of those from Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu will be transported to their respective destinations.

The state government had made necessary arrangements for the inspection of the bodies upon their arrival. Each body was also assigned an ambulance to carry them to their homes. At the airport, the mortal remains were kept for a while, allowing people to pay their last respects before being handed over to the relatives of the deceased.

The flight also carried Union Minister Kirti Vardhan Singh, who had rushed to Kuwait upon hearing of the tragic incident. The fire had occurred in a six-storey building in Kuwait's Mangaf city on Wednesday, claiming the lives of at least 49 people. The Indian embassy had informed that there were 176 Indian workers in the housing facility, out of which 45 lost their lives and 33 were hospitalized.

The entire nation mourned the loss of these precious lives and prayed for their souls to rest in peace. The arrival of their mortal remains brought a sense of closure to their grieving families and friends. May their memories always be cherished and may their souls find solace in the afterlife.
