On Wednesday, police in Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, reported that three men had drowned while taking a bath in a pond during a picnic. The incident happened the previous evening at Bhairav Kund, a picnic spot located approximately 80 km from the district headquarters.
According to Udaynagar police station in-charge Ajay Gurjar, 14 men from Indore had gone to Bhairav Kund for a picnic. One of them began to drown while they were taking a bath, and two others attempted to save him. Unfortunately, all three of them drowned. The men were estimated to be between 28 and 30 years old.
Search operations were not able to be conducted on Tuesday night due to the darkness, but the State Disaster Emergency Response Force team began the search operation Wednesday morning and were able to retrieve the three bodies.
This tragic incident comes following another incident in Indore, where police revealed that the loot of a Dewas trader was staged-managed. It also follows a public hearing in Dewas by the collector.
