2023 MasterChef winner crowned, praised experience as
After six weeks of intense competition, the winner of Celebrity MasterChef 2023 has been revealed! It all came down to the three finalists: Go Compare opera singer Wynne Evans, Love Island’s Luca Bish and Emmerdale actress Amy Walsh. For their final challenge, they were tasked with creating a three-course meal that would not be faulted by judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace.

In the end, it was Wynne Evans who emerged victorious, becoming the 18th person to win the celebrity version of the show. Upon his win, he expressed his delight: “This is a brilliant feeling. The kids will love this, they’ll be like, 'Dad! I can’t believe you did it when all you cook for us is beans on toast!' The experience has totally changed my life. It has just been beautiful and I can’t thank Gregg and John and everybody here at MasterChef enough.”

The 51-year-old Welsh singer is best known for his role in the Go Compare adverts, and the judges couldn’t praise him enough. Gregg Wallace explained how he ‘gives us theatre’ in the kitchen, while John Torode added: “Every single dish tells a story. His food, it’s exciting, it’s ambitious, and it’s got a little bit of artistic flare. He’s a proud Welshman with a big heart.”

For his winning three-course meal, Wynne pulled out all the stops. He began with a starter of Carmarthen-Japanese sumo tuna tartare with avocado, edamame beans and wasabi, served with deep-fried cockle popcorn and a mango egg. For his main course, he delivered a bread of Evans cannon of lamb, which he served on samphire with wild garlic, porcini mushrooms and lamb rendered fried bread, with pomme dauphine and a fondant leek, and finished with a red wine and red currant jus. Finally for his dessert, he made Bara Brith with Caerphilly cheese and fig jam, which was served with brie ice cream on crumbled Bara Brith and poached figs.

Speaking of his winning menu, Wynne said: “I think these dishes represent everything that I am – local produce, stuff that I can easily get at home, and everything that I like to eat.”

The victory is an incredible achievement for Wynne, and his celebration plans are sure to be an unforgettable experience. He expressed his joy: “When you start to believe in yourself, that’s when good things start to happen. I don’t know how a MasterChef winner celebrates but I know how a bloke from Carmarthen celebrates!”

The judges eliminated 19 other celebrities to leave them with the victor, and you can watch Wynne’s journey to the top on BBC iPlayer. Were you rooting for Wynne? Let us know in the comments below!
