On Thursday, an unfortunate incident occurred at a self defense event in Kupwara district, Jammu and Kashmir. According to the PTI, one of the students sprayed pepper spray during the event which caused 13 students to fall unconscious and required medical attention.
The event was taking place at the Government Girls Higher Secondary School in the Handwara area, when the pepper spray created an unfortunate reaction in some of the students. Immediately, the school staff rushed the students to the nearby Associate Hospital GMC Handwara, where they received medical attention.
Dr Aijaz Ahmad, Deputy Superintendent of the hospital, confirmed that 13 students were brought in to the hospital and following treatment, they were all stabilized. He further assured the public that the students had a reaction to the spray and that there was nothing to worry about.
The students have since been released and are in good health. Thankfully the event did not have any further complications and the students are now safe.
