Nikau (Kawakawa Fox-Reo) has recently realized he has to let Bella (Courtney Miller) go for good and let her enjoy her new life in New York.
Although he only broke up with her to protect her from the threat of the biker gang which was looming, Dean (Patrick O’Connor) told him not to go to New York to try and patch things up as Bella is happy and doesn’t need him interfering anymore.
Heartbroken but realizing his life is in Summer Bay, Nikau continues with his lifeguard duties and tries to move on from both the bikie ordeal and his relationship. He still has a court case coming up in the aftermath of the police sting, though – but when he discusses it on the beach, he doesn’t realize someone is listening in.
During his conversation, Nikau is surprised to see Heather (Sofia Nolan) sauntering over in her bikini to introduce herself.
Used to Bella’s shyness, he is taken aback by how direct Heather is – she invites him to Lyrik’s gig that night, and he says yes without thinking. He realizes he has nothing to lose and meets her in Salt a few hours later.
The pair hit it off, and Nikau finds Heather’s direct attitude refreshing. He gains more confidence under her influence and suggests they leave the gig early so they can head back to his place. Heather takes him up on the offer and they end up having a steamy rendezvous back at the Parata household.
Afterward, Nikau is looking troubled, and Heather immediately susses him out – he’s only recently left a relationship, right? Nikau confirms her suspicion and Heather leaves, giving him the space he needs.
But with Heather seemingly sticking around in the Bay for now, will this be the last Nikau sees of her?
