December 1st 2022
It’s December 1 so, naturally, Amanda Holden did a spin and magically turned into a nutcracker to mark the official start of the festive season.
As punters began digging into their advent calendars, and it became just a little less weird to put up our Christmas decorations, Amanda and her Heart Breakfast crew of Jamie Theakston and Ashley Roberts transformed into festive characters.
Amanda was looking drummingly spectacular in a nutcracker costume shops would most definitely caveat with ‘sexy’, as she popped on a bright red blazer with a black and gold collar and striped detail, with thigh-high boots – complete with a little drum, of course.
Ashley matched her on-air comrade as they strutted their stuff down the hallways of Heart, while Jamie got into the spirit by *checks notes* dressing as a Christmas tree.
Clearly over the moon about the impending December 25 date, Amanda was jumping for joy in her Stories and while she was no longer dressed as a Nutcracker, she said: ‘Oh my god good morning! Happy first day of December. I’m so excited!’
We’ve got to give it to her, Amanda, 51, ruddy loves to get gussied up for any occasion – be it Christmas, holidays, or, you know, Tuesday afternoon – and recently laughed off critics who find umbrage with her rather risque outfits.
Asked whether or not she loves courting the controversy around her garbs, after people took the time to complain to Ofcom over her Britain’s Got Talent outfits, she said this week: ‘Oh yes, 100%. That’s what it’s all about. It’s hilarious how much controversy my outfits have caused — people have got so much time on their hands.
‘I mean, no one paid much attention to what I wore when I was in my twenties or thirties.
‘I enjoy it, it’s all good fun. I would always rather be overdressed than underdressed for any situation. That’s been a general rule for me since I was about five.’
Insisting the days are gone of women in their fifties being seen as ‘over the hill’, Amanda name-dropped Jennifer Aniston, Kylie Minogue and Jennifer Lopez all flying the flag of looking incredible in their 50s.
She told The Sun: ‘Hopefully it means we can shift that old-fashioned attitude of, “Well, I can’t wear that because I’m 51”, or, “I can’t do my hair this colour because I’m in my fifties”.
‘Also, not feeling you have to get to an age and give up on yourself.
‘My children always say: “Mummy, you are not going to look like an old granny when we have children, are you?” I say: “No, I’ll look like Joan Collins.” I want to be called Glammy, not Granny or Nanny.’
